Join a Watatunga guided tour to learn about our approach to conservation and the incredible wildlife that we work with. Our tour season runs from April until October each year with guided self-drive buggy tours every day of the week except Mondays. Each tour runs for approx. 90 minutes with five 4-seater electric golf buggies, one 6-seater and one wheel-chair accessible option per tour. When you book a buggy, one member of your party will drive the buggy and it is booked in its entirety – you will not be sharing a buggy with others outside your party.
Each tour is lead by an expert and passionate guide who drives a separate electric vehicle and communicates with the buggies on tour via a speaker system to ensure that you can learn about the birds and animals you see on your visit. Each trip will be different – our guides don’t follow a script and our animals’ behaviour changes according to the weather, time of day and season. There is no guarantee as to what you will see but your tour guide will bring the reserve to life with informative and entertaining insights into the reserve and the conservation stories of its inhabitants.
During the winter months we offer private tours, (please contact us via the website) but several of our larger species including the mountain bongo are moved to other pastures where we can keep a close eye on them over the winter and make sure the stocking density in the reserve is optimal for the entire ecosystem.
Buggy operators must hold a valid driver’s licence. Buggy tours are priced per buggy (including the wheelchair accessible trailer) whereas our 10-seater trailer tours are priced per person and available on weekends. Please note that we do not offer concessions. There is no lower age limit on our tours -you know your children best but please be aware that the tour is not interactive, we are not a petting zoo and very young children (under-4) may struggle to stay engaged.
All tours must be pre-booked through the booking page on our website and will be confirmed by email. All tickets are non-refundable. Should you need to re-schedule your tour, we will endeavour to facilitate this when communicated at least 48 hrs prior to departure. All changes will incur an admin fee of £10.00
If you have further questions about our tours or anything related to your visit, please visit our FAQ page where we have endeavoured to pre-empt your queries. To enquire about private tours, wheelchair access or to book a private trailer ride, please get in touch via our contact us page before booking.
